I am a 63yrs young woman with arthritic knees and shoulders, as well as, visually impaired.
Coming into my senior years, I wanted to strengthen my body, my bones, and my heart. I need
someone to make me accountable and to push me beyond my limits.
Upon meeting Miguel, I knew he was the perfect coach for me. He is personable and
professional. In our 1st meeting, he gave me a comprehensive assessment, addressing my
abilities and weaknesses. Miguel discussed in depth a custom program based on my desires
that was not the standard “cookie cutter” routine that I had received by other trainers in the past.
Miguel focused on me ensuring not to project his own values – If an exercise didn’t meet my
needs, he removed it. The program never got old or stale! He made the workout interesting, as
well as challenging by using new and varied techniques along with diverse types of fitness
equipment.
Miguel has a vast knowledge of fitness, including Kinesiology. The information he imparted
about the body and muscles was most helpful. He has educated me on things like anatomy,
proper form and exercise selection as time goes by, as well as explained what the exercises
were accomplishing. Miguel ensures that every exercise is executed in the correct body position
and alignment, plus adjusts and modify my workout when my arthritis flares up. This shows how
much attention he pays, and how focused he is when training.
Miguel always asks questions at the beginning of each session about my time away from him,
such as other fitness activities, as well as my indulgences. He never judges since he
understands that the occasional lapse won’t hurt if I make a healthy decision most of the time.
He would recommend better choices and explain what the best nutrition plan is to suit my
personal goals, and allow me to ask how to do it differently.
To sum this up… Miguel is patient and understanding. His encouragement has given me the
confidence and the knowledge that I need to not only reach my goals, but the education and
coaching will aid me in the future. His warm personality and positive energy makes exercise fun!

Miguel was really diligent in making sure that I was keeping the effort in reaching the various goals that I had laid out to him when we first started. One of the goals that I had was to build good habits and being able to train with Miguel twice a week was really helpful in working towards that goal. Throughout these sessions, not only did Miguel introduce me to different exercises and how to use the different machines, Miguel also introduced to me journaling and programming my exercise, which proved to be a really useful tool for me to keep track of the exercises that I was doing and the progress that I was making over the course of training with Miguel but also in my own individual training.

Coming into personal training with very little experience with exercising in a gym setting, Miguel was very patient with me and made sure that all the little things like improvements and adjustments to my form were ironed out and properly explained. One of the things that I really appreciated with my sessions with Miguel was when I wasn’t totally understanding what type of motion I should be doing, Miguel would use himself as an example to show me what to do, and when that didn’t work, he would help manipulate my body to help create the mind-muscle connection. Miguel’s previous experience and training in massage therapy was also really valuable when it came to rehabilitation and proper maintenance of my body post exercise.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my training with Miguel and would definitely recommend others to train with him also!
